Hey!
I'm on my way to buy a 1996 Fendt 514C
It has 6500 hours on the clock, I dont think this is much for a Fendt 500 serie, but is there anything i should look out for or are there few problems?
My dad had a 512 about 10 years ago and we never had any problems with that one

ben ook al naar canada geweest dus.....
No i dont, this is at the local dealer, just came in a few days ago!
That sounds promising, love those tractors
Our neighbour had a 515 and had some problems with oil leaking from the turbomatik, dont know if that is a usual problem?
We've got a 512C at home. The 500-serie is in my opinion the best fendt serie. but the gearbox is in my opinion the weak spot...
the gearbox is synchronized. try to check the gearbox
you know how to do that?
that's not a usual problem, only the MWM engines can fail around 10000 hours. they had it with 2 of them. The other one has now around 12000 hours without any engine problems, but is has an extra lubrication on the first cilinder against the cab.
No i dont know how to do that, i test drove a 510 with bad synchronization, it was a huge disappointment compared to our 512..
So how do i do it?
thx
Why does it have an extra lubrication on the first cylinder? does it have anything to do with the year it's made or?
thx
but i have to say, it's not a big problem either, most tractors from other manufactors dont even reach 10000 hours
Isn't ther any way to fix the brakes?
The 800 serie is more expensive and it's very hard to find one that has under 10000 hours. I also think the 800 is a bit to heavy here, but i'm thinking about it, found a nice 818 in Denmark.
Most of these tractors dont reach 10000 hours without this problem.
Good overhaul by an expearansed mecanic is needed to solve the problem.
Can this problem appear at 6500 hours?
Is it a big repairation? or expensive?
It's one of the biggest dealers we have in norway so I can trust them for sure. Always had good experience with Fendt, not much trouble with them
This one has been driving with 2 mowers on most of it life, and a pickup wagon, looks really nice, no bumps or anything it will be treated nice if i buy it at least
i told you that you had to check the gearbox.
To check it:
1. start the tractor
2. try to push the gear lever into the 1st gear. (DON'T PRESS THE CLUTCH!) if the tractor moves a LITTLE bit whit out making noise or jumping into the gear it will be OK (DO NOT FORCE THE GEAR LEVER INTO THE GEAR!)
3. do this step above with the 2nd, 3th, 4th, 5th and 6th gear.
if you hear any sound out of the gearbox you dont thrust, think about leaving the tractor, a gearbox revision is very expensive.
Also our 512C (around 8000 hours) leaks cooling liquid past the piston rings getting into the motoroil. (not a very common problem) so check before starting the color of the motoroil if it's grey its not ok!
Schrijf dan niets s
if the syncro is bad, is it much job to fix? do you have to overhaul the gearbox then?
Okay, I will try that!
Thanks for the help!
en als je wat zegt dat je beter iets niet kan zegggen zet er dan een reden bij
if the synchronization is not good you should leave the tractor. its a very expensive thing to repair... the cost of this repair (by skilled people) is around the 5000 - 6000 euro (!) i don't know if you want to pay that much for such a problem.
oh that much, No i dont want to pay that much money for such a problem, i dont need the tractor before the summer so i have much time to look around
again, thanks for the help
The problem with leaking coolant in to the motoroil is a problem that every 512/514/515 has got when it reached about 10.000/12.000 hours. It`s indeed some work to do, but you don't need a lot of expencive parts...
The brakes of the front wheels are not that good, but it's easy and cheap to fix that. They can be reached under the cabin, near the fueltank. It won't be a problem if you don't do that much transport work.
I'm for sure that 6500 hours is about 25% of the total lifecycle of this beautiful tractors! I would certainly buy a 514 with these hours
OMG, Are you serious? You think that other manufactor make tractor that don't even reach the 10000h. How many examples do you want? I give you two: MF 135 19000h or Jd 2650 16000h. Both not revised! Both start every day, we haven't had even one problem.
chill out man, just saying how we have it here, and i've tryed a jd 2650 with 8000 hours on it and it was worn out, maybe this was only for that tractor though
haha, 17.350 hours
my mecanich is well known with Fendt tractors so he said that if it had the problem he would fix it fast and at a good price if there was a problem with the coolant
The brakes, dont they look something like the ones on the 300 serie?
Yes i have decided to buy it, just have have one of these. Vario is great, but it's something special about the 500 serie And after watching all your 514 videos on youtube I just need that tractor haha
When you need a lot strength to push the clutchpedal, means that the clutch is worn en needs to be replaced.
Also a weak spot are the break cilinders on the back of rearaxles. Look for liquid under the plastic cap. When this appears it means they are leaking.
Are the brake cilinders hard to change and is it expensive?
No, you don´t say it as how it is overthere. You say it as a fact. Everything could be broken, but the driver/owner determines in part when!
Btw, you gave me 2 examples, i can can give 1000 exampels of Fendt tractors with more than 10000 hours. And theres no reason to get mad, i wont change my mind anyways
For me it doesn't matter. It's better for you to stay in that tunnel!
I didn't start this post to dsicuss other tractors, I started it to hear what people had to say about the Fendt 514, so go annoy someone else please.
About the fendt 514, that are good tractors with a mighty sound. Do you want to hear this.
Fortunatly is fendt not the only one with good tractors and with a mighty sound!
congratulations with your fendt! I love the 500 series, my neighbour has got one to. i drive on it verry often, and i think it is one of the most beautiful tractors ever made.
Thank you Bought a 920 and not a 515 though but i agree, the 500 series are very beautiful and the sounds is amazing! And i love the transmision
Yes, verry simple but still verry nice to work with, no touch screens etc.
